Mazzer mod no.2 - the hopper

The Mini is quite tall with the standard hopper. In fact it is a bit too tall to comfortably fit under standard height kitchen cabinets. Ok, it does fit but there is not much room left for maneuvering. Fortunately Mazzer now offers a shorter hopper as an accessory (and yes, these are shipped from the manufacturer). It cuts 4 cm off the height of the Mini. This does not sound like much but it is just enough to make e.g. pouring the beans in more convenient - no need to move the grinder about to be able to do this.

There is also an unexpected benefit; at least to my eyes the Mini looks better with the shorter hopper. The proportions somehow work better this way. The side by side pic to the right clearly demonstrates the difference between the two.

To the left is my "shrine" with the shorter Mazzer. It is still a bit crowded but the good news is that there will be more room soon. I have sold the Rocky and we will be parting ways on Monday.

I will also be re-arranging stuff. Perhaps the ginder should be on the right side of the machine? And the knock-box should definitely be between the machine and the grinder...

If you have the space... Buy a knock-box that you can put under the machine or the grinder. That way you save precious space.

Thanks for the tip. However, the space I have is more limited vertically than it is in terms of counter space. Although not shown in pictures, I already have a knock-box that I am happy with. Also, the Rocky will go today and space will not a problem thereafter...
